Merry Christmas

MERRY CHRISTMAS!
Jewelry
Spotting Scope
Nerf Finger Football
The Herschberger boys have started a wrapping paper war tradition.
They have so much fun, running thru and throwing paper, it gets pretty
wild and crazy. The best part is, they clean up all the paper.

Winter Fun

The kids had a great time in the snow last weekend. Darrell helped them build the gigantic snowman, a few days later he was out cold ( he fell over) but it was fun while it lasted. Adam and Jeryl came over on Sunday and the kids all went sledding using the 4-wheeler. Since there are no hills in central Il.

"Sheriff Duke"

Drew played "Sheriff Duke" in our annual Christmas play at school this year, he did a fabulous job in acting and even had a southern drawl.

Turkey Run

We went to Turkey Run today. We canoed 4 miles down Sugar Creek. Alysha and I were in a canoe, and let's just say we didn't do as well as the guys did. We never tipped the boat, but we did go in a few circles, but by the time we got to the end we were doing pretty well.

Later we went on a 3 mile hike, we crossed the suspension bridge, hiked thru the canyons and went up and down to many steps to count. We were pretty exhausted by the end of the day,
but we had GREAT fun!!

Backyard visitors

We have been watching a set of twins grow up in our back yard this summer. We see them quite regularly, but wait for another month and they will be hiding all day. The other day they were within about 25 ft. of our patio.

Louisville, Ky

On Saturday we went down to Louisville, Ky to the Louisville Slugger bat museum and factory. We were able to tour the factory and watch them make bats. It was very interesting. The kids loved it! Then we went down to a park on the water front. We had such a great time!!

Softball World Series

Last week we went to Columbus, In. to the "Softball World Series". The team did pretty well, they lost 5 games and won 1. Alysha got a lot of pitching time and did very well.

First Day in Boston

Boston
We made it to Boston! We went to the aquarium Friday morning. It was pretty nice aquarium. After that we wandered around a for awhile then we went to the Red Sox vs Angels ball game at Fenway Park. It was a bit cool about 38 degrees with the wind blowing pretty good. The Red Sox won! When we left the game we were trying to hail a taxi when some guy sez hey I have a Towncar I will take ya. So there 7 of that pile into this Lincoln Town! I think we looked like on of those clown cars at the circus. Click on the Boston photo to go to a web gallery of pix

Owl House

Trevor has been wanting to build something, so on Saturday we built an owl house. Blake Rocke was here so he got in on the action also. I think they all had a great time. I put it on a tree not to far from the house hoping that we could get a glimpse of Mr and Mrs Owl when they move in. If they come back several years I may have to look into putting a web cam in it so we could have our own owl page. More pix here

Windpower

On the way home from Alysha's tourney in Pekin we drove by a windfarm East of Bloomington. The kids counted over 50 wind jennys and that was just one section of the farm. They are putting up more, I bet there was at least 15 to 20 jennys under construction. We stopped at one that was right by the road, it was huge. I wish I had one in my backyard.....

HOOOME RUUUN

We spent the weekend in Pekin at a softball tourney. Fortunately it was an indoor tourney, made it much more enjoyable. Alysha played 3 games and :( lost all 3. They did play pretty good for the first games of the season. Alysha pitched the end of one game and started the next game. Here is a pix of her on her way to 1st. She turned a single into a HOME RUN!!

The Great Wabbit Hunt

The kids were out of school this last week so I took vacation and we just stayed at home and worked and played. I took the kids rabbit hunting on Friday, Trevor had his BB gun, Drew had a .410 (Dwight's), Alysha had a .410 (Grandpa's). We jumped one rabbit behind the house (didn't have a shot), then we found him huddled under some weeds and Drew got a shot from about 8' away, I spent about 1 1/2 hrs digging the shot out! Alysha spotted a rabbit but it was in tall weeds and didn't get a shot, she was a bit disappointed. Drew helped skin the rabbit and Trevor played with the head and hide and would have kept it to take to school to show the rest of the kids if I would have let him. Here are the pix
